Reciprocation Gait Orthoses (RGO)

Reciprocation Gait Orthoses (RGO) is a custom-made orthosis that extends over the knees that secures the joints and assists in supporting the both lower limbs for standing and walking.
Walkabout

Initially it was developed to treat children suffering from spina bifida with myelomeningocele, (a structural defect in the

spine at birth). More recently other presentations such as spinal cord trauma, neurological diseases, diseases that causes progressive damage to the
nervous system, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy have benefited from the use of RGO's.


The degree of disability of all of the aforementioned disorders varies with the level of
defect.

Common  medical conditions include:

  • Spinal cord injury
  • Spina Bifida
  • Occulta
  • Closed Neural Tube
  • Meningocele
  • Myelomeningocele
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Cerebral Palsy
